Welcome to Incursions.

A free serial by Alex Harrison

Here you'll find links to a series of episodic side-stories set in the Hymn of Humanity literary world. These short stories will be divided into "seasons" and will be released roughly 4-6 weeks apart. With the official release of The Song, the Wolf, and the Watcher set for November 2, 2026, you can expect the first episode of Incursions in early December of 2026.

Each individual episode will be viewable on this page, and downloadable as a PDF or formatted for an eReader. Episodes of Incursions will always be available free of charge. At the conclusion of a season, episodes will be archived here, and a bound volume will be produced and made available for purchase.

Readers should not expect Incursions to be "required reading" for the Hymn of Humanity series. These stories are meant to be short, impactful, and enjoyable without turning into homework for those of you who are new here.

Brother Irvo spent too little time with us in the closing pages of The Song, the Wolf, and the Watcher. After what he went through and what he became, he deserves to have his story told. If you choose to follow season 1 of Incursions, you'll have the chance to see what happened to him, and learn how he earned his warrior's death.
